To connect your domain to your blog, you need to take a few simple steps:
1. After purchasing the domain from Namecheap, go to Blogger, then go to Settings. You will find an option with a custom domain name. Click on it.
2. A window will open. Add the domain that was previously purchased from Namecheap, adding www before the domain, so that it looks like the following:
3. Set up your domain in your Blogger account as shown here in Step 2: Connecting a non-Google domain from Blogger.
4. Once you add the domain, you will get two CNAME records that you need to configure with the A records in your Namecheap account:
– Log in to your Namecheap account.
– Select the Domain menu from the left navigation bar and click on the Manage button that appears in front of your domain name:
– Click the Advanced DNS tab, find the Host Records section, and then click the Add New button (Can't edit host records?):
Here you will need to create 6 records for your domain:
– Records to refer to @
- 216.239.32.21
- 216.239.34.21
- 216.239.36.21
- 216.239.38.21
– The CNAME for www is set to ghs.google.com
– CNAME with values provided in Blogger account
5. Once you have entered all the details, save it using the green “Save Changes” icon.
It may take approximately 30 minutes for the newly created host records to take effect.
Once the configuration is complete, repeat Step 1: Set up your domain in Blogger and follow step 3 (optional): Redirect from the URL without the subdomain to your blog URL as described in this guide.
